Why is Hong Kong a famous travel destination for Filipinos?

The “are we there yet?” question is not so common whenever we visit Hong Kong. Manila to Hong Kong is just 2 hours or 2 hours 30 minutes tops. And it’s not that far for a family traveling with kids. Something to consider for your first international trip as a family? Definitely!

Filipinos visiting Hong Kong don't require any visa. That means you can plan your trip anytime and not worry about visa approvals. Just your family, your plane ticket, your accommodation, your itinerary, your pocket money, and you’re good to go! 

Of course there is Disneyland, a must for families with kids or for those adults who would like to heal their inner child. Hong Kong Disneyland should be on your list. Something worth saving for especially if you have little ones! Keep one whole day here to maximize your time, or if you have all the time in the world and budget isn’t a problem, 2-days here is also an option!

Local food in Hong Kong is something worth trying! It isn’t too exotic for a Filipino palette. Think of your favorite Chinese dishes in the Philippines and you’ll find similar ones in Hong Kong. Thinking of what the kids will eat? The famous McDonalds or even Jollibee can be found in Hong Kong. The price point can be more on the pricey side of things but try not to convert when you are on a vacation so you get to enjoy it! =)

Getting around isn’t a problem for a first time traveler. The transportation system in Hong Kong is very efficient. You have the MTR (train), the bus, the famous Star Ferry and your own feet to get around. Worried if it’s stroller-friendly? It totally is. Sidewalks are wide enough (it can just get crowded because of people walking), train stations have elevators, and stroller-friendly.

And when you have plans to shop, there are a lot of shopping streets that you can find in Hong Kong. Just keep in mind that the sale season is not year-round. If you have the bucks, then go ahead and splurge! 

Of course there’s more to Disneyland when you visit Hong Kong. There are other places that you can discover and other things to do that will make you learn more about Hong Kong and its people.
