Where to stay in Hong Kong?

Where to stay in Hong Kong?
Along Nathan Road

Choosing a hotel when traveling can be kind of challenging right? Like you try to look for a hotel that is close to all the attractions that you want to visit. Sorry to burst your bubble but it really isn't possible to find one that is close to the famous attractions in Hong Kong.

Tung Chung area

Hong Kong has a lot of great areas where you can stay and each area offers different experiences. It also will depend on your itinerary and what is your priority.

Let me share 3 areas in Hong Kong that can help you decide where to stay for your next Hong Kong trip. Redeem our hotel discount code here 👇🏼

Elegant Tang Souvenir Shop

Starting off with the famous Tsim Sha Tsui (TST). This is for those who want to shop, looking for convenience, can walk to sights and be in the middle of the busy side of Hong Kong. It usually is the first choice for first time travelers.

When you stay at TST, it'll be an easy access to Victoria Harbour, Avenue of Stars, Nathan Road, Star Ferry, Harbour City, K11 Musea, some museums, cultural attractions and Kowloon neighborhood.

Cute manhole

For families with kids like us, transportation in this area is not a problem because there is always a train station around. Taxis and buses are accessible as well. Sidewalks are stroller-friendly because it is flatland BUT it can get crowded at times. There are a lot of hotels in TST and food options are massive as well.

MTR station

Next is Central area. Central area is the heart of Hong Kong island. This area gives off a different vibe compared to TST. It is more upscale, a variety of dining options that ranges from mid to top tier. And a lot of business people here. If you are a foodie family, Central is one of the areas where you'd appreciate Hong Kong's food scene.

When you stay in Central, you'll have easy access to The Peak Tram, Ding Ding trams, Central Market, Mid-level escalators, IFC Mall, Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong Park.

Famous for Hong Kong Milk Tea

For families with kids like us, Central area's landscape has a lot of slopes. So going up and down hill like landscapes may not be as stroller-friendly as TST. Train stations might be quite a walk as well but taxis are accessible.

Shopping outlet

And last is Tung Chung area. Tung Chung area is for those looking for airport convenience, easier Disneyland access and a quieter neighborhood.

When you stay at Tung Chung you'll get easy access to Citygate outlets, Ngong Ping 360, the airport, Disneyland, and Tung Chung waterfront.

Tung Chung Hotel

This area is convenient if you have early morning flights, and your focus is just Disneyland. But if you want to see other attractions in Hong Kong, this area might be quite a long ride to the city.

Temple Street

There are a lot of hotel options in Hong Kong but base your hotel on your itinerary. Don't just consider the price per night of the hotel, think of the convenience and location as well especially if you have kids with you.

TST area

Tsim Sha Tsui is for those who want to be in the middle of everything. Central area is for those who want a different side of Hong Kong and the food scene. Tung Chung area is for those who want an easy access to Disneyland only and a quieter neighborhood.
